Tonight was a showing of Swan Lake, courtesy of NYU. It was so amazing. I love the music, the dancing, the costumes. The whole show was very emotional -- I got chills multiple times, and at the end I almost wanted to cry. Sometimes the dancers were a bit out of sync, but the leads were unbelievable and so absorbing. The way they moved with their gorgeous costumes (can I have one???) made them look like swans. The technical parts were minimal , with just some smoke, a little bit of lighting, and some projections, but never too much or distracting. In fact, I almost never knew where to look, there was so much going on. Overall, so fantastic. I would sit through the 2 and a half hours again right now.
The ballet was at Opera Garnier, a huge modern building at Bastille. Our seats were so high up, and the seating was SO steep and vertical. I was scared walking to/from my seat in high heels.
